Every piece is an exploration of the interplay between surfaces and the structures beneath them. Building on Stan Brakhage’s question of how much more we might see if our eyes were unbounded by human-defined concepts of compositional logic, I work with basic foundational visual elements — lines, spacing, shapes, colors — and let them swim together or layer on top of each other to expand perceptions of what appears to be a single hue or form.
